Philadelphia Futures spends a memorable evening at Citzens Bank Park
Thanks to the MLB Players Trust Association, Philadelphia Futures spent an unforgettable vening at Citizens Bank Park at the Phillies vs. Dodgers game on Wednesday, August 17, 2016. Thanks to the Trust’s Buses for Baseball Program, Philadelphia Futures students were given the opportunity to take the field for pre-game practice and catch a rare, up-close glimpse of their baseball heroes.
After practice, many Philadelphia Phillies players stopped by to sign baseballs and have a chat with the students, including longtime friend of Philadelphia Futures, Carlos Ruiz. As a token of their immense appreciation, Philadelphia Futures presented the Phillies team with a “thank you” poster.
Former Philadelphia Phillies player, Chase Utley, took time out of his warm-up with the Los Angeles Dodgers to stop over and say hello. During his time in Philadelphia, Utley was a huge supporter of the organization. To recognize his invaluable support over the years, Philadelphia Futures presented a collage of memories to Utley.
Executive Director of Philadelphia Futures, Joan Mazzotti, said, “Philadelphia Futures is so fortunate to have such a meaningful partnership with the Phillies and our great friends, Carlos Ruiz and Chase Utley. We are thrilled to be cheering on new members such as Jerad Eickhoff, Cameron Rupp, Freddy Galvis and all of the members of the 2016 team.”
To add to the excitement of the night, two Philadelphia Futures students were also recognized on the field for winning the 2016 Greatest Save PSA contest with their video titled, “Unaware.” You can check out the video, which recognizes the importance of being aware of your surroundings at all times, by viewing this link: http://bit.ly/2bwtr80.
It was truly a night to remember, thanks to all those who were involved, including the MLB Players Trust Association and its Buses for Baseball Program, the Greatest Save and KinderVision Foundation, and of course, the Philadelphia Phillies!
