Sponsoring a Student

Sponsorships are at the core of the Sponsor-A-Scholar (SAS) model. Each SAS student is matched with a sponsor who contributes $7,500 for that student – $6,000 of which is disbursed directly to the student over the course of his or her college career. The remaining $1,500 is retained by Philadelphia Futures to help cover the cost of the student's SAS high school academic programming.

While in high school, sponsorships are a powerful incentive for students to excel in their studies and prepare for college. Once in college, sponsorship funds provide critical financial support to SAS students for books, travel home, and other college-related expenses. Students receive sponsorship funds on a semester-by-semester basis.

Sponsors receive written reports on their students as least annually while the student is in high school, and are invited to participate in ongoing Philadelphia Futures events, including celebrations of students’ milestones. Sponsors also are encouraged to call our staff at any time to learn more about their students or to arrange to meet their students.

Sponsorships can be funded with a one-time payment of $7,500, or made payable over a five-year period. Our sponsors include individuals, businesses, foundations, civic and religious groups – all of whom share a common belief in the power of education.

If you would like to sponsor one or more students, please complete the Sponsor Agreement, which sets forth the terms of a sponsorship, and the Sponsor Profile Form.

Please return both documents, along with your first sponsorship payment, to Philadelphia Futures. We will contact you upon receipt and notify you when your sponsorship has been matched with a student.
